We have invested more than $300 million in modernizing our mills over the last five years to ensure the highest quality special steel for our customers.
Gerdau Special Steel Operations
Gerdau has special steel mills in Jackson and Monroe, Michigan and Fort Smith, Arkansas that recycle high quality scrap metal into SBQ steel bars that are consumed primarily by the automotive, heavy truck, agricultural and construction equipment, oil, gas, and energy markets. The process starts with melting scrap in an electric arc furnace, then refining, degassing, casting, rolling and finishing. Watch this video to see exactly how we produce our special bar quality steel.
